New Tennis Court Construction

Having a tennis court built is a big undertaking, and it is essential to ensure that the company carrying out the installation has the necessary experience to deliver your perfect court. At Tennis Court Construction Kent, our operatives have been constructing new courts for many years and can ensure they provide a service that will meet all your needs.

Upon you initially contacting us, we will discuss your requirements and then arrange to conduct a site visit at a convenient time. The site visit will allow us to assess where the court is to be located and ensure that all variables have been considered. These will include making sure that there is suitable drainage in place and that the location of the court is installed with best practices in mind. Whilst it is not essential, it is preferential to try and locate a newly constructed tennis court with its width from East to West. This means that the sun will not be directly in the players’ faces when playing.

Another consideration is planning. In most instances, when the court is installed within your private garden, it is not required for the actual court itself, but it can be necessary for the fence surrounding it, depending on a few variables. If, however, your property is listed, or the land where you wish the court to be constructed on requires its usage changed, then planning is likely to be needed for the actual court too. We can fully advise you on this upon our initial site visit.

The ground level is also another consideration that we will take into account. Whilst your newly installed tennis court will be perfectly flat upon completion, it does not mean the proposed area has to initially be level. We have been able to install courts on uneven and sloped areas; all it means is that we will have to carry out more levelling, and excavation, which is common practice for us.

We can also take care of any necessary drainage, landscaping, and groundwork. All operatives at Tennis Court Construction Kent have vast experience to ensure that your newly constructed court and its surroundings look stunning, and will give you years of pleasure.

Tennis Court Resurfacing Kent

Having a tennis court is a fantastic addition to any property, but it is inevitable that as the court surface ages, resurfacing becomes necessary. Tennis court resurfacing is a service that we are highly skilled in. We can take even the most run-down-looking court and transform it, so it looks as good as new!

The works required for a resurface depend on the overall condition of your court. But here is a breakdown of the key components of how we carry out a resurface.

  1. First, we thoroughly clean the existing surface to ensure that all debris, moss and any vegetation have been removed. We do this with a pressure washer or a rotary cleaner. This gives us a clean surface to work with.
  2.  Next, we will install a brick edging around the court’s perimeter. Generally with a thickness of between 32mm- 55mm depending on the existing surface condition.
  3.  We then break out the existing post sockets and install new ones, ensuring they are embedded in concrete.
  4.  The next step is to spike the existing surface at approximately 500mm centres; these holes are then filled with drainage chippings.
  5.  If there is damage to the existing surface, we will remove any loose sections and then install limestone into these parts and compact it.
  6.  Next, a tack coat of bitumen is applied.
  7.  Now the court is ready for the new surface to be laid. This is carried out by installing metal sections on top of the old court and then laying tarmac between each section and raking it, so it’s flush with the top of the metal. The tarmac is then rolled to compact it, leaving you with a completely level surface.
  8.  The lines are now added.
  9.  After about three weeks, the court is ready to apply the colour coat. We tape up the lines and then use an airless spray-textured top coat.
  10.  New posts and nets fitted, and any other remedial works carried out (Fencing, landscaping, etc.)
  11.  Your newly refurbished court is now ready for you to enjoy for years to come!

This procedure outlines how a tennis court is resurfaced; however, every scenario is different, and we will always use our skills and experience to ensure that the works we are carrying out are specifically suited to your court’s needs.

Please do feel free to contact us anytime, and we will be happy to schedule a survey at a convenient time for you.
